A downloadable hunt

For over one hundred years, accounts of the Michigan Dogman have frightened those in the lower peninsula of The Great Lakes State. Standing exceptionally tall on two hind legs with finger–like appendages in lieu of paws and a snarling fanged and furred face, this hunter is often accompanied by packs of wild dogs in wooded areas seeking their next victim in a forever hunt. Will you be the next to witness this elusive beast, losing countless nights of sleep to a vision of true terror? Or worse yet, its next meal?

Find proof of the Michigan Dogman lest you be a social pariah for the rest of your haunted days. Venture into the woods, find the necessary evidence, and return safely to the tavern to prove everyone wrong.

One page. One player. 2d6, pencil, and eraser. Part of the 2024 One Page Game Jam.

Hopefully will expand this in to a larger project later on but enjoy the pwyw one-page version now and happy hunting!

This happened to my buddy Ian's uncle outside of Grand Rapids. Great module!

I would LOVE to hear that story! I live in Grand Rapids, haven’t seen the dog man myself yet

This looks cool- would you mind if I made and put out a hack on the game using the same system and general gist, but with the theme being a different local Cryptid legend- Iowa's Van Meter Visitor? I'd credit you and everything, of course. If I were to do so, anything I should include or do for such a spinoff?

yeah I’d love if you did that! Please be sure to let me know once it’s out. You can say something like “this game borrows parts from Michigan Dogman by Adam Vass,” I don’t have any kind of official license or srd for this one :)

Epic, thanks. Btw I played the game- it was a fun time, you captured the vibes you were going for really well. Legit creepy to imagine.
